Ricky is the child of Jerri Blank, who was conceived and born in Florida before being given up to foster care. He transferred to Flatpoint High, where he began a whirlwind romance with Jerri, despite the prejudice faced by being a new kid.
History[]
Ricky was first seen in Noblet's classroom, where he faced discrimination for being new. He helped to help pick up Jerri's dropped notebook, making prolonged eye contact with her, before being sent off to the principals office by Noblet. Principal Blackman also showed prejudice to him.
Ricky went out to his car only to find his tyres slashed by Jerri. Jerri begins to speak with him and they hit it off, but when Jerri's friends question why she is speaking to him, she further damages his car by slashing the tyres, breaking the windows, bending the attena, and keying the side. She apologizes before getting into his car.
The next day, Jerri grabs Ricky and releases a violent student as a distraction so she can ask him to the Sadie Hawkins dance. He agrees.
Jerri is forced to take Spike, a violent student, to the dance by Jellineck. Ricky comes through Jerri's bedroom window that night, and accidentally calls her "mommy". He gives Jerri a necklace with a tooth on it, something he had been wearing when found as a baby.
When Jerri is being questioned by her friends about Ricky, Ricky approaches Jerri with a book of sonnets. She rips it up while telling him how much she likes it, to appease both Ricky and her friends. She then reveals she can't go to the dance with him.
Ricky goes to the dance to tell Jerri he is leaving, but is not allowed in by Blackman, and is almost beaten with golf clubs by the attendees. Jerri saves him by giving a speech. The pair are crowned master and mistress of Bogie Nights. They are given jackets and a ride on a golf cart, when Jerri's violent date Spike begins attacking the dance. Jerri hits him with the golf cart.
After the dance, Ricky and Jerri figure out Jerri is Ricky's mother and the tooth on the necklace belongs to Jerri. She tries to kiss him but he leaves.
